Since its foundation, ISISC accomplished with its scientific and educational mandate organizing numerous specialization courses and contributing to legal doctrine and enhancement of criminal law. The extensive experience and the long-standing commitment of the Institute guarantees the highest standards in the field of educational programs at Graduate and Post-Graduate level. The first graduate course took place in 1999 and ever since the Institute held several courses on Human Rights, Judicial Psychology, European Law, Criminal Law.

ISISC activities bring together jurists from all legal systems and all parts of the world in a politically neutral environment, academically conducive to learning and to the free exchange of ideas. Throughout the years, ISISC has promoted the participation of young researchers, women and academics from all over the world, and more particularly form developing countries, assisting them in finding their way into the international community of scholars. Many who came to the Institute as young research assistants are now professors in numerous universities around the world.

Since 2003, the Institute organizes in Siracusa a ten-day Specialization Course in International Criminal Law for young penalists, which has become one of the most well known and appreciated events yearly organized. The acknowledgment achieved led in 2005 to offer a further specialization course focused on European Criminal Law. To guarantee equal access ISISC grants every year a limited number of scholarships to attend the courses for participants coming from developing countries. Furthermore, ISISC attempt to seek gender balance based on the numbers of applications.
